On Feb. 7 the citizens of Jefferson City have a very simple question to answer. Will we choose development or deterioration?
Both things won't happen because they are mutually exclusive. Without some action at the MSP site, historic buildings will soon be lost. Without investment in our city's services and infrastructure opportunities will be wasted. Without action, by those of us who live here now, future generations will look for more progressive places to live. Somewhere they see progress being made.
In recent weeks there have been many submissions to this public forum but regretfully no fact checking of the opinions expressed. Proponents of Transformation have been very forthcoming and honest. It is not a perfect plan set in stone with 100 percent guarantees for everyone. It includes projects some of us may not be convinced are ideal. But it is development and it is progress.
It is my hope we will not be short-sighted and allow Jefferson City to be characterized as a community in decline.
