COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Tiffany Mitchell scored 18 points to lead No. 2 South Carolina to a much tougher than expected 78-63 win over Elon on Tuesday night.

The Gamecocks (12-0) hadn't trailed at all in their last three games, but Elon (7-3) came out aggressive and led 20-13 early in the second quarter, matching South Carolina's biggest deficit of the year.

That's when Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley put A'ja Wilson back in with two fouls. Last season's freshman of the year in the Southeastern Conference along with Mitchell led their team on an 18-5 run and South Carolina wouldn't trail again.

Alania Coates added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Wilson added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Gamecocks.

Jenifer Rhodes led Elon with 19 points, while Shay Burnett 15 points and seven rebounds.

No. 12 STANFORD 83, CAL STATE BAKERSFIELD 41

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - Erica McCall scored 15 points with 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, helping Stanford to awin over a Cal State Bakersfield team coached by her dad, Greg McCall.

On Sunday Erica McCall tweeted, "Play Pop's team on Tuesday... been waiting on this game for years." Greg McCall presented his daughter with a plaque for playing on USA Basketball's gold medal team at the World University Games. The gesture didn't derail Erica McCall's focus - she blocked Bakersfield's first shot, then scored on a 3-point play.

The Cardinal (9-2) shot 51 percent from the floor (32-63), outrebounded the Roadrunners 61-36. Alanna Smith scored 14 for Stanford, Karlie Samuelson 13, and Kaylee Johnson 11.

Addi Walters scored 12 to lead Cal State Bakersfield (2-11), which shot a program-worst 19 percent (13-68) and scored the fewest points since moving to Division I.

No. 15 NORTHWESTERN 80, UMKC 38

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) - Ashley Deary scored 10 of her 15 points in a monster third quarter as Northwestern defeated Missouri-Kansas City.

The Wildcats (11-1) forced 24 UMKC turnovers and had 27 assists on 33 field goals. Deary has scored in double digits in every game this season, and was one assist shy of her third double-double, with nine. She also had a hand in five of Northwestern's 12 steals.

Four Wildcats finished with double-figure scoring. Joining Deary was Maggie Lyon with 17, Nia Coffey with 13 and Christen Inman with 12.

Northwestern held the Kangaroos (4-7) to eight points in the first quarter, and led 35-20 by the half. In the third quarter, the Wildcats outscored UMKC 27-8 with an avalanche of 3-pointers and 3-point plays.

Deary hit all three of her 3-pointers in the third quarter.

Kristen Moore led UMKC with nine points.

No. 16 TEXAS A&M 69, ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Courtney Walker hit 10 of 11 shots from the field and 9 of 10 free throws for a career-high 29 points to lead Texas A&M to a win over Arkansas Little Rock.

No other player reached double figures for the Aggies (9-3) but 11 of 12 players scored. Walker, fifth in A&M scoring history with 1,604 points, now has 23 20-point games.

Texas A&M shot 53 percent from the field and made 13 of 19 free throws.

Little Rock (2-7), which upset A&M in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last spring, shot 28 percent, didn't attempt a free throw and was outrebounded 41-31.

Alexius Dawn led the Trojans with 19 points.

Little Rock started 3 of 17 from the field but only trailed 30-22 at the half. In the third quarter, the Aggies had a 27-8 advantage, hitting 10 of 13 shots.

No. 23 MIAMI 83, FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 55

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Adrienne Motley scored 19 points and Miami rolled over Florida International.

Jessica Thomas had 15 points while Michelle Woods added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes (12-1).

Florida International (2-7) was led by Kristian Hudson with 20 points and Taylor Shade with 15. Destini Feagin added 10 points and seven boards.

Miami never trailed. A 7-2 spurt near the end of the first quarter, including a 3-pointer by Laura Cornelius, gave the Hurricanes a seven-point lead after one. Motley's layup with 4:46 left in the first half completed a 14-5 run and Miami led 44-31 at intermission.

FIU scored the first 10 points of the second half - including Hudson's 3 on the first possession - to trim the deficit to three.

But the Hurricanes scored the next 15 points - punctuated by a Thomas 3-pointer - and FIU didn't threaten again.
