Jefferson City High School running back Devon Moore burst on to the scene during his senior season with 1,197 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns.
He ran himself all the way to a Division I scholarship as Moore signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play football at Western Illinois in Macomb.
"I just worked harder to get ready for the next level, hoping to get coaches to look at me and I actually did," Moore said.
Moore (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) was a four-year letterman for the Jays, but he didn't become the featured back until his senior season. He saw significant playing time his sophomore and junior seasons, but was behind current Arkansas running back Kody Walker.
