Jays' comeback comes up short in 68-59 loss

The fact Jefferson City still had a chance was stunning.

After trailing by 20 points at halftime, the Jays rallied to cut the lead to 4 with 2:46 to play. That's when Jefferson City ran out of gas.

The comeback attempt fell short as St. Francis DeSales (Ohio) topped Jefferson City 68-59 in a first-round matchup in the Joe Machens Great 8 Classic on Thursday night at Fleming Fieldhouse.

"That was one of the uglier first halves that we have put together this year," Jefferson City coach Blair Thompson said. "We dug ourselves a hole as a result, one that we couldn't overcome."
