Your Opinion: Thoughts on taxes, wealth and firearms

Dear Editor:

The old saying, the more you get the more you want, and no one has too much money is very true. I saw in the paper that our state workers are the lowest paid in the nation and our politicians are paid sixteenth in the nation.

Some of the politicians want to waste money and hire a consultant to explain how to fix it. I don't claim to be very intelligent but my common sense tells me the right thing to do is lower your pay to the lowest in the nation or raise the state workers pay.

I saw Rush on television and he said there would be no tax increase. Most of the Republicans signed a pledge they wouldn't raise taxes. We should elect people who have a mind of their own and not let a couple people tell them how to vote.

Some people say raising taxes on the rich will kill jobs. My common sense tells me it will have no effect.

Jobs are created when people buy things; ask Walmart, a car dealer or any business person how many people they would hire if only the rich bought their goods. The rich claim they pay most of the taxes and that is okay. The rest of us do their dirty work, fight their wars, build their homes, teach their children and haul off their garbage.

Unlike many politicians Obama seems to have compassion for those less fortunate than himself. The Republicans want to cut help to the middle and poor people, how about cutting welfare to the rich farmers. It was stated in the paper the Rep. Vicky Hartzler received $770K in farm subsidies (welfare same thing) maybe she will introduce a bill to stop this waste.

More important they just announced on the news that many small children and their teacher were killed.

They should take down their silly no guns allowed signs and require several teachers to have a gun.
