A special present for your favorite teams

Sports Commentary

Christmas is just two days away. It's the most wonderful time of the year. Well, at least I hope it is for all of our faithful readers out there. I hope you get everything you ask for.

The professional and college teams around the state can't necessarily say they've received everything they've asked for this season.

So I'm going to play Santa Claus for a little bit. Or better yet, Stillman Claus! Here's a little of who's been nice, who's been naughty and then I'll add in what would be the perfect present for your favorite team.

Missouri Tigers football

Nice: Sheldon Richardson. I'm not really going by off-the-field behavior here, it's more of who's had a nice year type thing. He had a solid year with 75 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. The defensive lineman is a projected first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

Naughty: James Franklin. It was a rough season injury-wise for the junior quarterback. It wasn't a whole lot better on the field, either.

Present: A legitimate chance for Maty Mauk to win the starting quarterback job.
