At halftime Saturday afternoon, the final outcome wasn't really in doubt. And if there any happened to be lingering, Syndey Deeken quieted those doubts in the third quarter.
Deeken, a junior, scored eight of her game-high 16 points in the period as the California Lady Pintos pulled away to a 59-24 victory against the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs in the Missouri National Guard Shootout at Fleming Fieldhouse.
"She can be a spark plug for us," California coach Bobby Sangster said. "She can make things a lot easier on everybody. We lean on her, with her talent, she can take over in games."
