A long, vibrant and decorated career came to an end Sunday morning as Callaway Bank CEO Bruce Harris died at his home, following a long battle with lung cancer.

"You've never met a nicer, more concerned guy," said Jerry Sage, executive director of the Missouri Independent Bankers Association.

Harris was born Nov. 3, 1954, a son of Overton T. and Rosemary Harris. He attended Fulton High School, and graduated from Westminster College in 1976.

After college, Harris began his 36-year career at The Callaway Bank, where he served in a variety of positions including lending officer and investment officer before eventually making CEO in 1999.
