Jefferson City residents may have noticed that new emergency warning sirens, with new attention tones, are now being used.
Instead of the old droning tones, a voice telling citizens "This is only a test" comes over along with a series of chimes.
The first sirens to have this capability were tested last month and, according to Cole County/Jefferson City Emergency Management Director Bill Farr, more came on line Thursday afternoon, when the monthly test occurred.
