Weather forces prep sports schedule changes

Rain, rain, go away.

The weather decided to wreak even more havoc, and it's not good for the local sports scene, as several prep events scheduled for Friday or Saturday were postponed or canceled.

The Jefferson City softball team was slated to participate in the Cor Jesu Invitational in Kirkwood both Friday and Saturday. The weather postponed those plans, and the tournament host is looking to play an abbreviated tournament Sunday.

The Jim Marshall Cross Country Invitational, set for 9 a.m. Saturday morning, has been postponed and rescheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Cole County Park. The meet features local schools such as Jefferson City, Helias, Blair Oaks, Fatima, South Callaway, Russellville, Eldon, School of the Osage, Southern Boone and California.

The Helias softball team's doubleheader with Webb City on Friday was postponed. No reschedule date has been determined.

The Calvary-Tolton JV softball team's game with St. Elizabeth on Friday was postponed and rescheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 1.
