Impending rain affects games

It's not even here yet, but the weather is already affecting today's sports scene.

The starting time for today's football game between the Jefferson City Jays and the Belleville (Ill.) East Lancers in Belleville has been moved up.

The varsity game will now start at 6 p.m. The sophomore game, slated to start at 5 p.m., will not be played.

For the Blair Oaks Falcons, it's no longer "Football Friday Night," it's "Football Friday Early Evening."

The expectation of severe weather forced the Falcons to move the start time of today's game at Owensville to 5:30 p.m.

The Helias softball team also altered its schedule. Instead of varsity-JV doubleheaders with Webb City on Friday and Saturday, all of the action has been moved to Friday.

The varsity will now play a doubleheader at Duensing Field, starting at 3 p.m., while the JV will play a twinbill at Lions Field, beginning at the same time.

The Jefferson City boys soccer team postponed today's varsity and JV games with Springfield Parkview. A makeup date has not been announced.
