State Board revokes Knehans' teaching certificate

Although his name still is included on the state Elementary and Secondary Education department's "Educator Certification" web page, Christopher Knehans no longer is licensed to teach in Missouri.

The State Board of Education voted 8-0 last Wednesday to accept a recommendation that they revoke Knehans' license to teach instrumental music in all grades, kindergarten through 12.

Knehans, now 39, is a former Jefferson City High School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School band teacher who resigned March 28 after spending six months on paid leave.

He's scheduled to go to trial Sept. 25 on a Cole County grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of sexual contact with a female student at the high school.
