There wasn't a need to make many introductions on the opening day of practice for the Jefferson City Lady Jays golf team.

"This is the most experience I've ever had coming back," Lady Jays coach Randy Bickel said as Jefferson City returns all five of its district tournament players heading into this morning's season opener at the Warrensburg Invitational.

"That's exciting and I think it can really pay off for us this season."

Bickel, who has served as head coach for 10-plus years, said the group has talent to go along with that experience. So just because you played at the district tournament last year doesn't mean you have a spot this season.

"We have seven to nine ladies pushing each other for the varsity spots, which is fantastic," Bickel said. "We don't have anybody going really low in practice, but we've been extremely consistent. We have a lot of people consistently shooting in the low 40s."

The Lady Jays feature three seniors in Claire Hansen, Brette Henderson and Samantha Sheppard. Hope Watson, Ashlee Morrison, Caroline Hall, Danica Ridgeway and Madison Fear are the juniors on the squad.
