"Pitch Palooza' encourages entrepreneurs

Drew Muessig dreams of starting a new restaurant.

Susan Schauffler wants a permanent home for her archery business.

And Herman Lueckenotte thinks Mid-Missourians should be able to catch commercial flights from Jefferson City as well as Columbia.

Those were just three of nearly two dozen ideas "pitched" Saturday during more than three hours of entrepreneurs' presentations to business representatives and other entrepreneurs, during the "Start-Up Jefferson City" event called "Pitch Palooza."

"The whole point behind this was to bring to the surface that there is an entrepreneurial subculture around here," said Mike Honeywell, one of the event's organizers and owner of two independent businesses.

"There are people who have ideas and passions, who are wanting to start businesses - but there's really no place to help them work those ideas out and help them bring those ideas to reality."
