This letter is written in response to Frank E. Wallemann's letter published in the News Tribune on Aug. 14.
His letter is very clear as to why our country's (and the world's) culture is on the road to total havoc. He is obviously a part of the liberal humanist crowd who feels that all words are open to interpretation. The extremely sad part is what he says is true. Many of the mainstream church denominations do leave the Bible open to interpretation. This situation, if openly and honestly characterized, would be more humanistic than Christian.
Time was, the only difference in the denominations was the way worship was conducted, not interpretation of the Bible's specific and clear words. Now the scripture "Leviticus 18:22, Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" is to mean something else or totally ignored? This is what our so-called Christian churches call Christianity?
Until words again mean something then our Bible (and our Constitution) might as well be put on the shelf to gather dust while our society self-destructs.
