The City Council heard a passionate crowd on the transit issue Thursday evening. The mayor was inexplicably unavailable.
One issue that was not mentioned is the need for Jefftran to have a marketing director if the city ultimately wants it to be successful.
There should always be a city bus and maps and schedules at the Capitol on Earth day. A bus and driver should be enlisted to provide shuttle service when remote parking is an issue, perhaps at the Fairgrounds (I don't really know because as I depend on Jefftran, in my eight years here I have never been permitted to visit the fairgrounds) and also at a future convention center.
It is nothing short of ridiculous that the buses drive about with all that ad space in and on them unsold.
The fact that one of the speakers, representing the schools, revealed that the mayor has not even been in discussions with them about a possible subsidy for transporting the school children, confirms for me the recklessness and prematurity of his proposed violent slashing of Jefftran's budget.
