JC public schools continue work developing "academies'

"Academies" are coming to Jefferson City's Public Schools - with or without changes to the district's facilities.

Administrators and the Board of Education are committed to changing the way high school students are taught.

And last week, the continuing planning on how to accomplish the change expanded the conversation to about four dozen local business people.

The district's final academy lineup hasn't been determined, but the list right now includes seven study areas: arts and communications; agriculture and natural resources; business management; global studies; health services; human services; and industrial arts.
