The Missouri Farm Bureau's Political Action Committee never has endorsed a Democratic candidate for statewide office.

And that string remained unbroken Friday, with the more than 200 delegates' votes endorsing Republican challengers Dave Spence for governor and Todd Akin for the U.S. Senate.

Farm Bureau spokesman Estil Fretwell announced Friday afternoon that Akin received 99 percent of the political action committee's votes, after hearing speeches from, and asking questions of, both Akin and incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill, who's seeking a second six-year term in the U.S. Senate.
