Lawyer: Teen didn't mean to point laser at players

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The attorney for a suburban St. Louis teenager accused of waving a laser pointer during a Cardinals game says the teen didn't mean to point it at players.

Seventeen-year-old Eric Bogard of Creve Coeur was charged Wednesday with disturbing the peace at an athletic event and violating an ordinance regulating use of lasers. He is free on $150 bond.

Bogard was arrested Monday night after Cardinals manager Mike Matheny identified him as the person who pointed a green laser toward a San Francisco Giants pitcher.

Defense attorney Joel Schwartz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/P7xusD ) that Bogard did not intentionally point the laser at anyone, and wasn't even the person who brought it to the game.

Still, Schwartz says Bogard now realizes the seriousness of the mistake.
