City to discuss potential transit cuts Thursday

A proposal in the city budget to cut more than $400,000 from the transit system subsidy will be discussed Thursday with an opportunity for public comments.

Mayor Eric Struemph's proposed FY2013 budget includes cutting $418,708 from the subsidy given to the city transit system. That could mean the elimination of the system's tripper routes, which run once a day throughout the school year and serve Jefferson City High School, St. Peter's School, Helias High School, Immaculate Conception School and the Simonsen 9th Grade Center.
