Price retirement highlights Court Plan amendment

August 5th, 2012 in News

One of the reasons former Missouri Chief Justice William Ray Price Jr. retired last week was to make sure his successor is appointed to the high court under the current version of the Nonpartisan Court plan - which also is known as the Missouri Plan.

That's because lawmakers placed a proposed constitutional amendment on the Nov. 6 general election ballot that would, if passed, change the way the plan operates.

"I hope the voters don't approve the change," Price said in an interview. "I think the change would be troublesome for the future of Missouri and justice for all people."
