Woman walking in downtown St. Louis struck, killed

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police are searching for the driver of a car that struck and killed a woman downtown.

The accident happened about 2 a.m. Friday on South Broadway. Police say 23-year-old Amber Wood was crossing the street when she was struck by a silver or gray Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with Missouri license plates. A 29-year-old man with her was also struck and is hospitalized.

The vehicle took off after the accident. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
