Lady Jays' shot goes just far enough in 2-1 win over Lady Tigers

It looked harmless enough.

With a little more than three minutes left in the second overtime Tuesday night, the Jefferson City Lady Jays knocked a shot toward the lower corner of the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Lady Tiger net.

The Smith-Cotton keeper stopped the ball and players from both teams started to head toward the other end of the field. And then the ball trickled at most a foot over the goal line.

After a couple of seconds, what just happened sunk in as the Lady Jays celebrated a 2-1 victory over the Lady Tigers at 179 Soccer Park.

"Sometimes in soccer, you have to have a little luck," Lady Jays coach Matt Stacey said.

Megan O'Dell was credited with the game-winner.
