Lincoln keeps its softball hopes alive

The Lincoln Blue Tigers kept their Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament hopes alive with a softball doubleheader sweep of Southwest Baptist on Saturday.

The Blue Tigers are tied with Truman State and Southwest Baptist for the eighth and final tournament spot with a 6-14 mark in conference play, but Lincoln owns the head-to-head tiebreaker against those schools.

However, if Missouri Southern sweeps Fort Hays State today, they will get the spot.

On a Senior Day when Lincoln honored seniors Megan Braun and Olivia Durrell, it was a junior who got the day started right, as the Blue Tigers won the first game 8-0 behind Starr McLeod's complete-game shutout.

Then Durrell tossed a four-hitter in Lincoln's 4-1 win in the nightcap, as she struck out four.
