Lincoln softball drops twinbill at Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. - The Lincoln softball team ended the road portion of its scheduled by getting run-ruled in both halves of a Sunday doubleheader at Emporia State.

The Blue Tigers dropped the first game 10-2, as the game ended with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

In the nightcap, Emporia State scored six runs with two outs in the sixth to get another run-rule victory, this one 9-1.

The wins moved Emporia State to 31-7 overall and 20-0 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Lincoln is now 12-33 and 3-13.

With just two league doubleheaders remaining on the schedule, the Blue Tigers are just one win back of the eighth and final spot in the MIAA playoffs.

Lincoln will host a twinbill with Central Missouri at 2 p.m. Friday before hosting Southwest Baptist for two games beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

All four of the games will be critical, as Southwest Baptist is one of two conference schools with four wins and Central Missouri is one of two others with six wins.
