Teen arrested in fatal Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in the shooting death of 17-year-old boy in Columbia.

The Columbia Daily Tribune (http://bit.ly/Iis1Hi) reported that police officers were dispatched to the scene of the shooting at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Columbia police said in a news release that the victim, Bryan Rankin of Columbia, was taken to the nearby Women's and Children's Hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. The teen later was later taken to University Hospital and died overnight.

Officers believe the shooting stemmed from a disturbance at a party in the area. No other injuries were reported.

The teen suspect was arrested around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
