I admit that I know very little about Big Brothers/Big Sisters except for reading now and then how helpful they have been working with young people. I don't even know if it has to be one-on-one with a child or if perhaps two could work with a small group.
I am an elderly person who lives in an apartment complex and notices that there are children who could benefit from guidance with their natural youthful energy.
Now that the school year is about to come to an end, it seems they might appreciate someone who had the time and the energy to take them hiking, biking or leading in other activities, if only weekly.
We do have an activity room here at the apartment and a very likable manager with whom Big Brothers/Big Sisters could interact.
In the busy world that we live in today, many parents do not have the time or the energy to give their children the extra attention which they need, and any volunteers would be a blessing to them.
I'm assuming that Big Brothers/Big Sisters do not charge for their services.
It is lower income people who could use the help. They can't afford extra-curricular activities for their children.
If there is a charge, perhaps some of the churches would like to help in the development of a child.
