FULTON - A 34-year-old Williamsburg man was fatally shot early Monday by law enforcement officers after he leveled a weapon on them in a subdivision west of Fulton.

About 5:45 a.m. Monday, authorities received a report of someone walking and firing shots in the Green Meadows Trailer Park west of Fulton.

When a Highway Patrol trooper and Callaway County deputy arrived at the trailer park, they saw Timothy Earl Simpson with a weapon outside his home at Lot 59 on Elaine Drive.

Simpson first pointed his weapon at himself and then in the direction of officers, said Sgt. Paul J. Reinsch of the Highway Patrol. The officers fired and fatally injured Simpson, Reinsch said.
