2 possible tick-related illnesses in St. Louis Co.

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - The possible cases of the tick-borne illness Rocky Mountain spotted fever are being reported in St. Louis County.

KMOX Radio (http://cbsloc.al/HbKmWB ) reports that the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has confirmed the two cases are being investigated. Details about the victims have not been released.

Rocky Mountain spotted fever can cause fever, headache, abdominal pain, vomiting and muscle pain. It can be fatal in rare cases.

The tick season is off to an early start due to the unseasonably warm weather. It runs through September.
