Miller Co. woman faces trial in baby's 2007 death

IBERIA, Mo. (AP) - An Iberia woman who is accused of burning her baby to death in 2007 will face a Laclede County jury in September.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christina White will go to trial Sept. 17 in Laclede County on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree arson and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

White's 7-month-old baby suffered burns over 60 percent of his body and died 20 days after White allegedly set his blanket on fire July 11, 2007.

White has been in jail in Laclede County for more than three years, unable to meet a $250,000 cash bond.

The Lebanon Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/yk9IZT) that court records indicate White will not face the death penalty because she was found to be mentally handicapped.
