Westminster College officials had good news for students planning to attend the school next fall: The institution will not increase its tuition until 2013.
"In this struggling economy, we want to offer assurance to all of our current students and our prospective students that Westminster is committed to keeping quality college education affordable for them," Westminster President Barney Forsythe said. "We believe by taking this step now we are giving students the stability they need to make sound financial decisions about how they can pay for their college education.
"They can have every confidence that Westminster will continue to be the best choice for those who want to attend a nationally ranked college at a price they can afford."
George Wolf, dean of enrollment services, said Westminster officials arrived at the decision to hold the current tuition rate of $19,750 through the 2012-13 school year to help students and their families plan ahead.
"The primary reason is there is so much instability with the economy, and we wanted to build some stability for students and their parents," Wolf said. "We felt it was important to maintain our affordability in the mindset right now that people are getting hit from so many different sides."
