SW Missouri man shot during domestic dispute

PINEVILLE, Mo. (AP) - McDonald County authorities say one man was killed and another man wounded when a woman tried to retrieve her possessions from her ex-boyfriend's home.

Sheriff Robert Evenson says 34-year-old John Bevill II died after being shot Friday at his home in southeastern McDonald County. A second man, 22-year-old Kendrick Long, of Rogers, Ark., was shot in the arm.

Investigators say the men were shot when Bevill's ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend went to Evenson's home to collect her belongings.

The woman's current boyfriend, 31-year-old Brian J. Clapper, is jailed on second-degree murder and other charges.

The Joplin Globe reports (http://bit.ly/qwLVoj) that Clapper told investigators he shot the two men because Bevill grabbed the woman and wouldn't let her go.

Online court records do not indicate if Clapper has an attorney.
