ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - A St. Joseph man will spend many of his adult years in prison for shooting his best friend during a robbery.
Nineteen-year-old Victor Davis was sentenced Monday to five years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and 25 years for armed criminal action. The sentences will run consecutively.
Davis shot 17-year-old Aitmus Rimmer III on April 28 when the two were trying to commit a robbery. Davis has said he began shooting when he became scared after seeing someone coming from the home. One of the shots hit Rimmer.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/ruQohI) that Davis' father, Victor Wallace, is awaiting sentencing for first-degree attempted robbery after admitting that he drove his son and Rimmer to the house to commit the robbery.
