After giving up four goals in a recent three-game stretch, the Helias Crusaders decided to concentrate on the defensive end.
With four shutouts in a 48-hour span, that was time well-spent.
"We stressed in practice Wednesday the importance of playing good defense over the next few days," Helias coach Chuck Register said after the Crusaders captured the Red Pool title Saturday in the Capital City Invitational at the 179 Soccer Park.
The blankings began with a 1-0 victory Thursday night at Fatima. Helias then opened the Invitational with another 1-0 victory, this one Friday night over Troy.
On Saturday, Helias finished in scoreless ties with Poplar Bluff and Joplin.
