To ensure the issues that are most important to seniors are recognized, the Silver Haired Legislature exists.
A statewide group of about 150 seniors, the Silver Haired Legislature convenes at the Capitol each year to establish to top five legislative concerns, though members say there are 18 bills they hope to see progress on this legislative session.
"There are far more than five, but the Silver Haired Legislature chooses five bills to support each year, there are numerous that members will testify on and talk to their legislators about," said Bill Trimm, President Pro Tem of the Silver Haired Legislature's Senate and board member.
Patrice Donahue, representative and board member, said the group is concerned about a variety of bills, but especially to restore the funding to senior nutrition meal programs.
