GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) - The jury that will decide the fate of accused spree killer Nicholas Sheley has been sent home for the weekend.
WGIL Radio reports Knox County prosecutors say they have one more witness to call in Sheley's trial for the June 2008 death of 65-year-old Ronald Randall, and will rest their case Monday.
During testimony Friday, two witnesses said they lent Sheley their cell phones outside Busch Stadium in St. Louis two days after Randall's death. William Meyer testified he overheard Sheley say the he has to keep moving. Meyer said he didn't know who Sheley was talking to, and he asked the number called be deleted from the call log.
Sheley has pleaded not guilty in five other Illinois killings and the deaths in Missouri of an Arkansas couple.
