Mid-Missouri's three state senators generally supported Tuesday night's preliminary passage of the "jobs" bill that's been promoted as the centerpiece of the special session.
"There are some pieces in there that I think would really help move Missouri employers forward and help them create jobs," Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, said. "It might not be the bill that everybody wanted, to start out with, but it still does have a lot of job-creation pieces left in it."
Sen. Dan Brown, R-Rolla, said some of the ideas removed from the original bill "makes it more palatable for some of us in outstate Missouri."
But the changes didn't erase one of the problems some lawmakers have with the proposal, said Sen. Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia.
