Riley rezoning proposal gets P&Z nod

The City Council soon will be dealing with a rezoning plan that will expand a Jefferson City auto dealership.

The Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday unanimously approved a plan proposed by Kevin Riley to rezone 11.3 acres adjacent to his auto dealership on Christy Drive from RS-2 to C-2.

This property also includes some land owned by Esther Strobel and Irene Knernschield, which is intended to be purchased by Riley Brothers LLC.

According to Mike Bates with Central Missouri Professional Services, the consultant on the project, the plan is to move the current Riley Toyota Scion dealership from its current location, 3205 Missouri Blvd., to Christy Drive.

The move is being planned in anticipation of the lease on that building expiring and to meet corporate requirements from Toyota.
