Missouri lawmakers gather at the Capitol today for a special session aimed at helping the state create more jobs.
"Obviously, our focus has been on getting the right jobs bill, and the pay-for on it," Gov. Jay Nixon told reporters last week.
That "pay-for" involves changing some of the tax credits Missourians have come to rely on - especially a proposal to cancel a low-income tax credit that benefits both older and disabled Missourians who live in rental housing.
Also on lawmakers' targets is the long-running Historic Preservation credits that have been used to improve older-but-neglected properties throughout the state.
Freshman state Rep. Mike Bernskoetter, R-Jefferson City, supports that idea.
