Alaska police say 1 dead in shooting at hotel

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Police say a 45-year-old man has been arrested in a fatal shooting of a manager at an Anchorage hotel.

Lt. Dave Parker says Victor Rodriguez Flores was arrested near his Anchorage home, which is near the Millennium Alaskan Hotel where the shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sgt. Joe Masten tells The Associated Press that the shooter is a disgruntled former employee who had been fired. He says the woman was shot in a hotel kitchen.

She was identified as 55-year-old Kerry Fadely.

Parker says Rodriguez Flores has been charged with murder.

For several hours Saturday night, police locked down the hotel and carried out a room to room search. Police also surrounded the suspect's residence.

Parker says officers took the suspect into custody near his home at about 10:45 p.m.

There were no reports of any other injuries.
