Body of SW Missouri man recovered from lake

KIRBYVILLE, Mo. (AP) - The body of a southwestern Missouri man who disappeared while trying to retrieve a canoe has been recovered from Bull Shoals Lake.

KSPR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/uhxosz) the man has been identified as 25-year-old Jason Sissel, from the Christian County town of Spokane (spoh-KAYN').

Witnesses told investigators they saw Sissel try to swim out to the drifting canoe late Tuesday afternoon. He went under and did not resurface.

Officers from the Missouri Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division searched for about two hours Tuesday night and resumed the search Wednesday. Divers recovered the body near Route MM in rural Taney County.

Troopers said Sissel was not wearing a flotation device.
