ST. LOUIS (AP) - ST. LOUIS - Six months after a strong tornado caused millions of dollars of damage at Lambert Airport, the St. Louis airport is about to begin replacing broken windows.
Windows have been boarded up since the April tornado that ripped through the airport and north St. Louis County. Hundreds of homes were damaged in addition to the airport, but no one was killed or even seriously hurt.
KMOX Radio reports that new windows are going in this week, replacing the original windows installed in the 1950s. The new windows had to be specially made.
Meanwhile, repair work continues in Concourse C, the part of the airport most damaged by the tornado. A grand re-opening is planned for next April.
