Students join forces to help Honor Flights

Schools from across Mid-Missouri are coming together to promote the Honor Flights program and get more veterans of World War II out to see the memorial dedicated to their service in Washington, D.C.

At a news conference Tuesday, Jefferson City Public School Superintendent Brian Mitchell said the idea for this began after the tremendous outpouring of support the district saw in their efforts last year during the Wreaths for Heroes campaign to get wreaths on the graves of veterans at the National Cemetery.

Mitchell said they decided to reach out to other schools in the area, and Columbia, Blair Oaks, Helias and Russellville schools have all decided they will help in some way.
