Jefferson City's unique brewery has been recognized for all its hard work.

At the Small Business Award Breakfast, Prison Brews was selected as the 22nd area business to be named Small Business of the Year.

Prison Brews was one of 25 businesses nominated for the award and beat out three other finalists - Capital Mortgage Solutions, Custom Screen Printing & Embroidery, and Kas A Designs.

Deb Brown, owner of Prison Brews, said she was excited just to be nominated, but to win the award was truly an honor.

"This is even more incredible than I thought it would be," Brown said.
