Kansas man charged with trying to abduct 3 Missouri girls

WHEATLAND, Mo. (AP) - A northeast Kansas man has been charged with trying to abduct three girls in west-central Missouri.

The Kansas City Star reported that (http://bit.ly/nlySlj ) 55-year-old Richard A. Gibisas of Overland Park, Kan., faces three counts of attempted child kidnapping, tampering with evidence and possession of child pornography.

Hickory County court records say he told the girls to get inside the company van he was driving when he saw them playing outside Wednesday in the town of Wheatland. The girls, ages 7, 10 and 12 - ran for help.

Court records say deputies stopped the van about 10 miles away. Inside, they found duct tape, rubber gloves, Hustler magazines, binoculars and baby oil. His phone contained sexually oriented videos and photos.

Gibisas remained jailed Sunday and authorities didn't know if he had an attorney.
