Your Opinion: Views on Obama, tea party

October 1st, 2011 by Dale Reichel, California, Mo. in News

Dear Editor:

I would like to get my two cents worth in about some issues.

One is President Obama. With what he had facing him coming into office and the right wing smear campaign against him, I think he has done pretty well. Actually I think he has been a pretty good Republican. He has helped the wealthy, big corporations, big banks and carried on the wars.

I believe it has been a battle for him against conservatives. To me conservative is a bad word.

On the Tea Party, they are not too well informed, I believe. Where were the tea people when Bush was over spending and getting our country into debt. The Koch brothers hadn't created them yet?

The tea people would have us driving on gravel roads again, kids with eighth-grade educations and tons of pollution. But, we would all be carrying guns.

In response to Mr. Horstmann on Christians. I'm a Christian by most Christians definitions, but I have a problem with many of today's so-called Christians. A lot of Christians are too anti-government. A lot of Christians are very stingy, seems to me. Maybe government has to do what they should be doing.

Our last president says he is a Christian. But I would question that. Two huge wars and hundreds of billions, some say a few trillion dollars, spent on killing too many innocent people, babies and children too, is to me evil.

The radicals who destroyed the twin towers died that day, Sept. 11, 2001, if they really did it. I must say also our current president has carried on these awful wars. Conservatives have caused our debt.

I end with this - James 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Matthew 19:23-24 Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, And again I day to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
