Baby sitter accused of sexually assaulting toddler

ST. ANN, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis County baby sitter is facing several charges for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-month-old girl and a 15-year-old.

Authorities say 24-year-old David Norton also burned the toddler with cigarettes because he was angry. Police say he told them he struck the child over an eight-month period while working as her baby sitter.

The 15-year-old girl is a relative of the baby.

Norton was charged Tuesday with statutory sodomy, child abuse and statutory rape. He is jailed on $75,000 cash-only bond. He did not yet have a listed attorney.

The victims live in St. Ann but the crimes allegedly occurred in unincorporated St. Louis County.
