Marching bands, floats and spectators - it's time for Christmas parades.
Those who love to take in a traditional Christmas parade will have four options within the county - Fulton, New Bloomfield, Holts Summit and Auxvasse. See one or all, because each is scheduled for a different day in early December.
• The Fulton Jaycees Annual Christmas Parade is the first one, making an appearance at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, from the circle drive at the Fulton State Hospital and moving west on Fifth Street. The parade will then head south on Market Street, west on Fourth Street, north on Jefferson Street, east on Ninth Street, south on Court Street and end between Third and Fourth streets.
Line up for entries is from 9-11:30 a.m., and float judging will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Those who wish to be in the parade must register at the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce by Dec. 1. There is no entry fee.
The parade theme this year is Joyeux Noël. "Joyeux Noël" - a 2005 movie about the World War I Christmas truce along the Western Front - was chosen to emphasize the meaning of Christmas and peace on earth. Based on a true story, the film shows how Scottish, French and Germans put aside their differences during WWI on Christmas Day.
