November 22nd, 2011 in News

A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with the robbery of a taxi cab driver early Sunday morning in Jefferson City.

According to court documents, Terrill Reynolds, 34, was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Court documents show Reynolds was convicted of second-degree robbery in Jackson County in 2004 and 2005.

Reynolds has been convicted of six prior felonies, including assaults and rapes.

According to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement, Reynolds called the cab company around 3:15 a.m., requesting a ride from the 800 block of East McCarty Street to the 800 block of East Elm Street.

After being picked up and arriving at the destination, Reynolds, who was accompanied by two other unknown females, pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at the driver and demanded money.

The driver turned over money to Reynolds who got out of the cab, counted the money, and then ran from the area.

Hours later, officers were called to investigate an assault at the location where the robbery occurred.

During the investigation of the assault, it was determined Reynolds was involved in the robbery and a search of the residence found the money that had been taken and the gun that was used.

Witnesses from the assault identified Reynolds as the robber.

The victim of the robbery was able to point out Reynolds as the robber and identified the handgun used, which had one bullet in the chamber.
