Your Opinion: Response to Smith on work, success

Dear Editor:

I try to avoid the opinion page, particularly if it has Bolt, Haslag or Smith as the authors. It's just the same old stuff and I just don't punish myself with the drivel. But I got sucked in with the Nov. 13 editorial by Tony Smith with the word "oligarchy." I suppose plain language is not within the grasp of some of the more educated folks like the ones mentioned above.

I have a news flash for the (as always no original thought but just quotes from Smith) New York Times blog from Paul Krugman, we are a Republic, not a Democracy as he stated. We have a little piece of paper called the Constitution, try reading and quoting from that for a change of pace, or is the language to common for the likes of Krugman.

Do the rich deserve what they have Mr. Smith? Do you think you are "inadequate"? You say "the rich supposedly deserve what they get and the rest of us are inadequate."

I feel rich in many ways, but I sure do not feel inadequate because I am not rich according to your standards. This rigged system you speak of is called working hard and educating yourself. That is something your beloved Occupy Wall Street people know nothing about. When the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. That is or will be the end game if the Occupy Wall Street succeeds. Is that your goal Mr. Smith?

I do not believe the American dream can be stolen as you say. Although the liberals such as yourself and your lackeys would sure like to take it away from some that have exceeded. Class warfare is still alive and well with liberals.

Every day I wake up in this country as an American is a dream for me. There is no greater country like it on the planet. In spite of your arrogant hate-America people such as you and your friends, I am proud to be here! I am not threatened.

How's that hope and change working out for you, Mr. Smith? And I did not recommend you read a book or quote from the New York Times, it's called an original thought.
